Found this ol' outfit in my wardrobe yesterday (It's from Motel Rocks yeeaars ago🌙✨I pledge to make maximum use out of it to make up for my sinful #fastfashion past)

I, like many others, did not know of the impacts of fast fashion until recently.

One of my goals for this year is live #fastfashionfree and learn as much as I can about the process.

I'm aiming to go in deep with my investigations into the industry but here is a quick summary of why I want it out⬇️

➡️A RACIST AND EXPLOITATIVE INDUSTRY

Workers of the fast fashion industry are exploited (including children) and largely, women of colour. Modern slavery IS A THING and most definitely at large in western supply chains for clothing brands.

➡️TERRIBLE FOR THE ENVIRONMENT

Waste materials end up in landfill, polluting communities (yep, you guessed it- already exploited communities).

Returned items often end up in landfill.

Lots of incinerated items contain toxins which produce CO² when burned= speeding up the #climatecrisis.

A huge amount of microplastics come from clothes= these end up in our oceans.

#fastfashion is a flawed industry from all sides. We can't all be perfect- I own many clothes from the terrible brands described above. BUT I do know about the issue now and I pledge to not turn a blind eye.
